Getting to Bintan

Saturday early morning: Dearie reached Clementi MRT station at 6am. My parents and I were utterly impressed. Only to find out later that it was because he had his dear World of Warcraft game through the night.. No wonder so on time.....

Anyway, we reached the jetty at 6:30am. We did our check-in at 6:45am. People with golf clubs and fishing rods were all starting to come in. My parents left us there to wait for the cafeteria to start serving.

When it did, it was already slightly past 7am. We were famished. This is a shot of the view where we had our breakfast.

After which we went out of the cafe, taking our time... but WHOA. There was this ridiculous looking queue to pass the customs. Biangz. While we were eating we did not realise so many people had come to the jetty to take ferries sia.

Heng ah. Not everyone taking the same ferry as us. By the time we got past customs we were one of the last few liaoz. We quickly went to catch our boat.

What you see in the photo is not the one we took, but it looks just about the same.

Anyway, inside, it was fully air-conditioned. Looked quite like an aeroplane, if you ask me. There was TV mobile showing and even a little shop where you could buy snacks, drinks, etc on board! Like a mama shop!

On an aeroplane, you have air stewardesses/stewards walking up and down the aisles. On a ferry, you have people who do the same thing. Only that these people look super experienced and have expressions on their faces that seem to say not to mess with them. But somehow you see them and you feel that you will be safe throughout the ride. Got this sense of security that they've done this a million times and everything will just go fine.

The weather was good and so was the view. Dearie and I took a nap on the ferry and only awoke when we reached our destination.

Unfortunately, we weren't fast enough and had to stay on the wobbling ferry for a while. Thank goodness I didn't get too sea sick.

To be continued.....
