Ramblings on Project Superstar

I have not watched a single episode of Project Superstar, from it's audition days till the semi finals.
I wouldn't have watched it today if my sister hadn't turned it on. I was pretty tied up with the ki running all over the place until my mummy brought him back to his mummy's place.

I am no expert in performing but these are my ramblings of what I feel of Project Superstar after watching this one finale (and some more I didn't watch every segment).

Anyway, the finals was very ala Singapore Idol's finale. Just that it's a Chinese version. The opening performances by the last few that were picked were as expected: filled with loads of energy and excitement.

Too bad they lip synched. A big no-no to me for a live performance.

The guys were obviously better dancers. The girls looked plain raw, like they were not trained properly.

One uncanny similarity was how each girl was pretty much of the same size and shape, that even the guys were almost all of the same height. Hmm... And all of them had the same "sound" in their voice. Blech. No variety sia.

The whole thing sounded like a big karaoke contest. Can sing lahz, but just not singer quality lorz. Didn't feel any stage/tv presence at all. No star factor. X factor. Zilch. Mabe it's just me 'cos there were people dressed up as mummies and angels huh? haha! Cute sia!

I'm still glad that Weilian won overall though. I just couldn't bring myself to like the girl. Voice wise, both not my type, but Weilian (although pitch wise not too good), had better quality. Marketability of course Weilian win lahz. Sincerity in performance also obviously Weilian.

I am very sure there are better singers out there.

Probably they just didn't fit the "physical criteria".
