Bintan - Day 1 (Part 3)

... Continued from previous post ...

We picked Bladey up at the lobby. Again, there was super accuracy in meeting him. We reach the lobby in time to seem him set foot there too. Ha!

It was already 5+ I believe. I can't remember exactly. Dearie and I needed to get our room 'cos we were told at 1pm that the room was not ready (check-in time is 3pm mahz). We all went to the counter and collected our key. Guess what the receptionist told us? They upgraded us to a SUITE due to availability problems!

A FREAKING SUITE!

I felt as if I tiok lottery. Jumping up and down like crazy girl. We quickly went in search of OUR suite. Heehee!

We reached the end of the resort (meaning closest to the beach), and there we saw the door. Different from the rest 'cos it was black, unlike the rest of the rooms in brown.

To show you a better contrast, here's what the deluxe room YL and Evon got looked like inside:

Need to explain that there are superior and deluxe rooms. Superior rooms are cheaper but because they were fully booked, we had to settle for the deluxe rooms but topping up some.

Now, for the unveiling of the suite....

Yep! That's Bladey opening the suite door.

Now for what's behind it...
The living room

The balcony (view)

The bedroom

The bed

The huuuge bathroom (where Dearie was running his bath)

Forgive my angles. The room was too huge for me to capture everything in these few shots. If it looks small, well... it really isn't. It's already an apartment.

Bladey had just come after a long day at work so check out how he was already enjoying himself.

The rest of us were busy getting our baths to wash off all that time in the pool. As you saw in the previous photo, Dearie was running the bath but he never got to use it. Neither did I.

Why?

We couldn't understand why the hot water was yellow. Kinda murky in fact. THe phone in our lovely suite wasn't working despite the 2 phones and 3 lines, so we didn't bother about calling the reception. Blech. Nothing's perfect.

We made do with quick showers and had to run off to catch the bus to The Kelong for dinner!

On a bumpy ride to The Kelong, we got Bladey to snap quick shots of us at the back.
Completely unsuccessful:

Somewhat successful - Evon's eyes just had to close at that moment

Again somewhat successful - if you don't count YL's unprepared look

No more shots after that 'cos the bus stopped - meaning we reached our destination - THE KELONG.

(Waaay too dark to see huh? Well, it was THAT dark! And told ya, no photoshop too.)

Dinner time!!!

We were worried when we saw a long queue but thank goodness we didn't have to wait long to get seated. We took the ala carte menu and fussed over how we wanted our dishes. You don't get such a patient waitress in Singapore.

When the food came, we realised we might have ordered too much for the table. Haha! We had a good dinner anyway.

YL and Bladey are staring at the dismembered Grouper (it's a fish in case you don't know), thanks to Dearie who painstakingly cut out the meat for all of us so we didn't need to wrestle with the bones. Awww...

This is what was left of the crayfish before the last one was gobbled up:

After dessert, I started feeling a little wobbly. THe strong winds were blowing and I felt as if I were starting to get sea sick. Luckily I wasn't alone on this 'cos Evon felt it slightly too.

We hurriedly got the waitress to snap a quick shot for us.

Oops. She snapped too fast.

This was much better:

We got to the place where we had alighted from the bus and waited.

It seemed to be taking a while, so we just decided to snap some more. We were really really really really really VERYYYYY tired by then. Some more just finished eating. Feel like sleeping even more.

Dearie snapped this hilarious one, of us getting ready for the shot:

The not so hilarious part was that when I put my arm behind Evon, she (in a bid to make sure I didn't get burnt by her ciggie) burnt YL instead. SUPER OUCH.

We composed ourselves again, and managed to snap this:

Then of course there's Dearie and me...

The bus was a long wait. We made our way back to the resort and crashed into the suite altogether. We were all so in need of sleep that we all got into the bed together.

But that was not before Evon and I had a nice view of the stars at the balcony. It was the first time I ever saw a sky full of stars quite so clearly. Amazing. I'm not the sort who thinks such stuff are romantic like sunsets, but I do appreciate being able to see "the real thing" after 23 yrs on this earth.. at long last.

We all fell asleep one after another. I remember YL leaving the room, while Blade and Evon puffed away at the balcony. Dearie and I just snoooooozed.....

We could have all stayed in the same suite actually. Only that the rest wouldn't have a bed to sleep on. Heehee! ok lahz. At least 1 more could take the bed. Bladey had to take the sofa in YL and Evon's room anyway.

That was the end of Day 1. Told in 3 parts no less!

Stay tuned for ALOT more photos from Day 2!!!

Till then...

Bintan - Day 1 (Part 2)

... Continued from previous post ...

[By the way, no photoshop used in my photos cos I suck at it so if it's too dark, you've got to increase the brightness on your compy screen. heehee...
There were supposed to be more photos but some are in Evon's camera, so I'm only uploading what is in mine.]

We headed back to the room where Dearie was still sleeping. See how sound he slept?

As we 3 girls lazed about the room, Evon suggested I lay on her and snap one. Hmm.. sounds lesbian right? But somehow it turned out un-lesbian-ly:

YL being as narcissistic as she is tried turning the camera onto herself to snap a whole bunch of her own photos. And I decided to destroy one of them for her:

heehee!!!

We were laughing and talking loudly, while Dearie just lay there sleeping. His sleeping skills are really....... one of a kind.

Then we got an idea of using the camera's self-time taking ability by snapping one with the 4 of us - regardless of Dearie awake or not.

We got really naughty after and decided to get him in the photo up with us - again, sleeping or not.

Here's the preparation shot:

Tada! Mission accomplished.

That's when YL (who got all horny from the lesbian suggestion that didn't turn out right) thought I should pose with Dearie - while he slept.
I lay beside him and got directed by Evon and YL who were also the photographers. Just like on America's Next Top Model. Suddenly I felt like a model. Only diffy was that I was unprofessional and was laughing the whole way through.

If you think I look like I'm sleeping, it means I got potential to be model lehz. HAHAHAHAHA!

Most wonderful part was that Dearie was snoring through it. WOW. There was a whole slew of these photos from different angles - almost as if they were snapping at porno poses. These 2 girls ah... tsk tsk. heehee! Worse still, the windows were open so anyone could have just stood from the pool and looked into our room, wondering what the hell.........

Better still, after all that, I suggested how about if Bladey reached earlier, we could make him pose with Dearie...............

Look at the cheeky expressions I caught! HAHA!

Ok, this is YL being her narcissistic self AGAIN.

After these, we violently got Dearie to wake up so we didn't waste the afternoon. We were waiting for Bladey's arrival so we tried to plan our time nicely so we could get him at the lobby.

We gave him a call and asked him to sneak onto the green Nirwana Gardens bus, and off we went to the pool. Photos at the pool were taken in Evon's camera so no photos after this till later.

The pool was great. Dearie did his sun tanning while we girls got into the water and enjoyed the jacuzzi function at the sides. Free massage sia. We got ourselves a drink and some VERY YUMMY fries at the poolbar. We hung around the pool some more (we girls don't know how to swim, so we just waddle about), and left for the lobby to greet Bladey.

Day 1's not over yet... Be rest assured there'll be more photos...

Bintan - Day 1 (Part 1)

... Continued from previous post ...

Once we got to the jetty, Dearie and I took our attendance at the Nirwana booth and was told to board a green bus. The ride to the resort was very quick. When we got there, we admired the very beautifully landscaped resort. Very Singaporean styled cleanliness. Haha!

Once we reached the lobby, we were greeted by YL and Evon (they stayed over on Friday night) who calculated our arrival extremely accurately. They handed over their room key and were off to their 30min head and shoulder massage ('cos 2nights stay entitles them to this free massage).

Dearie was planning to sleep till the afternoon. Both of us still sleepily browsed through the channels offered. Nowadays hotel TV channels getting better. Not only got HBO and CNN, even got Disney channel, and at Bintan can get the Singapore channels also. Haha!

It wasn't long before the girls got back. They were going for their breakfast so I decided to tag along. I dragged Dearie along. Here's a lesson YL taught while we were going to the lobby: Smile on 3 when taking photos. Why? 'Cos it makes the smile look more natural. Here's what they took when they held their smile from the count of 1:

Here's the one on the count of 3:

Really got difference horz?

Anyway, a quick shot of the lobby with Dearie giving a whole-hearted yawn there.

Then we saw this somewhat life-sized chess set and decided it was only appropriate if it was used as a phototaking opportunity, so we all got into a frenzy and started messing it up.

Here are the ones with Dearie and me:

And then there's Evon and YL:

After that, Dearie couldn't take it any more and so we gave him the key to go back to the room for his sleep.

We girls just continued with our photo taking. haha!
Here's me as queen:

And YL as king:

We rushed off for breakfast at The Coffeeshop (yep, that's the name of the place where breakfast is served). The regular hotel looking place for breakfast. It was already 10am and breakfast was to stop being served at 10:30am.

I was hungry but I watched them eat anyway. It seemed like a good spread... then I saw on Evon's plate - SPAGHETTI. My tastebuds just awoke and craved for some too. YL helped me get the ala carte menu and I asked the waitress to get me a plate. She told me it'd be a long wait 'cos the kitchen would be busy with the lunch menu, but I told her I'd wait.

Before long, it was 10:30am. A waiter came over and told them that they were going to clear the buffet spread. Then he told me something I'm sure I wouldn't have heard in Singapore - "The kitchen is too busy to be able to cook your portion. You can go get the food at the buffet. We won't charge you. We're clearing up already. Quick go and take." (Ok, so I can't remember the exact words, but that was what he meant.)

I was so happy but paiseh sia! I got Evon go go help me grab the food 'cos I just felt bad about eating without paying. First thing I attacked was the spaghetti of course. Mmmmmm... As we got to the other end of the spread, the fruits were already being kept. The same waiter came over and (these ARE the exact words), said "Quick! Quick! You must be fast! You want some fruits? Take take!" WOw....... He led Evon over and scooped some onto the plate before we hurried off, unable to contain our laughter. Such a nice fella that guy....

Anyway, breakfast ended soon enough and we smuggled a cupcake and pastry for Dearie (confirm once he wake up, I know he'll look for food). We wrapped it up in a serviette and tried to hide it from any prying eyes but alas, we were spotted by the waiter and YL said he saw him laughing before he ran off. Oops. So much for discretion.

--

I wanted to go take a walk around the place so before heading up to our room, we walked past the poolside restaurant (where Evon and YL had their dinner on their 1st night and said it was BAD), the pool (so tempting to jump inside there and then), and a playground (with 2 swings! you don't get swings in Singapore any more!). We walked over to a hammock and it seemed to be the only one around. It was in a good spot and again, it was phototaking time - else what to put on blog right?

YL and me

Evon

YL and Evon

YL and I

YL was getting really comfy so Evon started to swing YL off. Heehee.. Have a nice video clip of that. heeheehee...

We found a couple of trees with a good view behind and took the rest of the photos for this entry.

YL

Me pretending to climb the tree (but land up looking like I'm humping it)

Evon - Indian style

Evon and I fooling around

YL acting cool

Me acting chio

Evon just being Evon

YL being narcissistic

Actually, YL was being really narcissistic this whole trip and took alot of her own photos. (The following 2 are just a preview horz.) She made sure she deleted the bad ones though. Damn..

It was noon and very hot indeed. We headed back to our room. [We dropped the camera case for my camera. We went up a flight of steps nearby, realised it, walked back and scoured the area and couldn't find it. Mystery till now. There was no strong wind, no passers-by, and the ground was relatively flat. Where did it go?!]

Anyway, stay tuned for part 2...

Rants not allowed

Shocking news:
http://commentarysingapore.blogspot.com/2005/09/free-speech-blogging.html

School students can actually get SUED for "flaming" their teachers on their own blogs.

What the hell is this country coming to...

Getting to Bintan

Saturday early morning: Dearie reached Clementi MRT station at 6am. My parents and I were utterly impressed. Only to find out later that it was because he had his dear World of Warcraft game through the night.. No wonder so on time.....

Anyway, we reached the jetty at 6:30am. We did our check-in at 6:45am. People with golf clubs and fishing rods were all starting to come in. My parents left us there to wait for the cafeteria to start serving.

When it did, it was already slightly past 7am. We were famished. This is a shot of the view where we had our breakfast.

After which we went out of the cafe, taking our time... but WHOA. There was this ridiculous looking queue to pass the customs. Biangz. While we were eating we did not realise so many people had come to the jetty to take ferries sia.

Heng ah. Not everyone taking the same ferry as us. By the time we got past customs we were one of the last few liaoz. We quickly went to catch our boat.

What you see in the photo is not the one we took, but it looks just about the same.

Anyway, inside, it was fully air-conditioned. Looked quite like an aeroplane, if you ask me. There was TV mobile showing and even a little shop where you could buy snacks, drinks, etc on board! Like a mama shop!

On an aeroplane, you have air stewardesses/stewards walking up and down the aisles. On a ferry, you have people who do the same thing. Only that these people look super experienced and have expressions on their faces that seem to say not to mess with them. But somehow you see them and you feel that you will be safe throughout the ride. Got this sense of security that they've done this a million times and everything will just go fine.

The weather was good and so was the view. Dearie and I took a nap on the ferry and only awoke when we reached our destination.

Unfortunately, we weren't fast enough and had to stay on the wobbling ferry for a while. Thank goodness I didn't get too sea sick.

To be continued.....

A Quickie

I'm back from Bintan!!!

There're LOADS of photos that I've yet to transfer into my PC. And even after doing that I need to upload them onto the bloggie and all... so the next post may take a while before it gets up.

Here's just a really quick update of what's happened since I've come back:

I've got diarrhea and vomitted last night (Monday night). My mum and I think it's food poisoning. You know what's the best part? I think it wasn't even the Bintan food. I believe it's the supper/dinner I had when we got back to Singapore on Sunday night.

Got to remember this: Do not eat nasi lemak at night.

Here I am at work again.. didn't get to see the doctor last night 'cos I knocked out after the vomitting. Slept for nearly 12 hrs despite my handphone beside me ringing several times. That just explains how exhausted I was.

Luckily last night got no class. But tonight and tomorrow night have. Eeks.

Friday, September 23, 2005

My childhood friend is married!

I've known her for at least 13 years. This was since Primary 3 when she joined our class mid-way ('cos she was transferred from another school). She was different. Loud voice, outspoken, and seemingly intimidating. She didn't get a very nice welcome from the class (eh, we were kids), but I never was very bothered by such things in the past. (Actually, I still ain't.)

Anyway, I met her at a temple where I went for my Sunday buddhist classes. I smiled and waved at her. She waved back. And from then on, we were friends.

Today, JX turned 23.

Today, she also officially became Mrs Chan.

-----

I left office at 11+ to go for lunch with my colleagues. After which they gave me a ride home and I started to doll up for the ROM session. I think that since she invited me to such a closed event, it would only be right to turn up well dressed. [If I ever have a wedding I'll ban all jeans. HAHAHA!]

My mum and I got there on time at 2:30pm.

I met my primary school teacher Mdm Lin. She taught mandarin when JX and I were in P5 and P6. So many years ago and still in contact. It's amazing.

Then I saw JX's parents and aunt arrive. The appointment was for 3pm but they didn't show up till 2:50pm. You have no idea how nervous we all were for the couple.

They quickly went into the hall. (Such a beautiful couple!)

The couple had to present all the I/Cs to prove all were present, and took a number. Yes. You need to take number.

We moved into a little waiting area where there was a number indicator - complete with a bell to remind you if it's your turn - and a huge plasma tv to show which couples had taken their numbers.

(Oh, that's the bride's father walking past in the photo.)

The couple seemed a little nervous or maybe they just hadn't settled down from the wrong turn they made, causing them to be so late.

My young photographer gave a rundown of what was going to happen when they got into the room. Complete with directions of how to put on the rings so it would look good for the camera. He reminded them to do things slowly so he would have time to snap photos.

We had to wait for about 10-15min. Meanwhile, my mum decided to snap me.

Then one with my teacher.

The number flashed. We got ready and lined ourselves ourside the door to the couple's new future.

"ding-dong"
"Please go in!"

We all squeezed into the little room where a man dressed in a suit would be oversee the procedure and administer it. The couple sat down, and the man made sure that they wre not forced but were getting married out of their free will.

The parent from each side got prepared to sign as witness.

They stood up to exchange rings.

They even had to hold their hands a certain way, and repeat after each other a vow.

The groom kissed the bride and the whole procedure through I was just smiling and couldn't help it at all. It's a wonder how I even managed to take photos in the room. I was just so tremendously happy for her.

They held up the certificate and there was just no stopping the joy in that room.

Somehow, every couple would walk out the door and pose here.

And here.

Awwwwwwwww.........

Must be a standard operating procedure for the photographer.

[Pssst! Did you know they have a solemnisation suite where you can have a grand registration complete with an aisle and arch, with music?! So niiiiiccceeee....
Someone had booked the small hall and the wedding was going on and I got to peep in. I liiiike... Haha!]

The couple went on with the phototaking session at the Spice Gardens (aka the standard place where all people take their wedding photos).

Before we went off for the buffet high tea, we managed to catch the bride for an individual photo each:

Me and JX

Mdm Lin and JX

JX and my mummy

The buffet high tea was at Hotel Phoenix (at Somerset).

We squeezed into a car and zoomed off. The delectable spread indeed tasted just as good.

By 5:30pm, everyone was full and that was the end of the buffet spread anyway. (They even had to ring a bell for that. Haha!)

We left at 5:35pm. Not because the food stopped, but because my dad knocked off, and was waiting for us across the road at his workplace to send us home.

What a happy day. Seeing her find someone who can look after her for the rest of her life. ahhh... So sweeeet...

They're flying off tonight for a week. I hope they enjoy their honeymoon at Goldcoast Australia!

-----

I realised that I was letting a good dress to waste if I didn't take a photo of it, so here it is:

And since a good make-up day shouldn't be wasted either (not like it makes much difference to my looks):

-----

I'm off to Bintan for 2D1N. Bloody hell just got notified they don't accept debit card. ARGH!!! THen my subscription fee for what?!?!?!?!

Nvm. Today happy day. I'll let it pass.

Bintan trip will have A VERY VERY VERY LONG update. Heehee.. Like this one.. or longer. haha!!!

This is my only de-stress window. When I'm back.. full steam ahead liaoz!

Western Totz

The pasta stall at the foodcourt at my workplace has this service:

They email you the menu for the next day's lunch. How high-tech is that?! FOOD COURT stall horz. But damn good pasta. Ah. I'm hungry liaoz.

I suck at studying

Always have. Always will.

This was the first week I had a taste of what to come for EVERY week till early next year in March – I had night classes after work from 7-10pm on Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday.

Oh my gosh…..

It is tough. Keeping awake at lessons never used to be a problem till now. I will need to make sure I get enough sleep the night before.

I also realise that now in year 2, the lecturers are not spoonfeeding us as much as in year 1. Crappy hell… Need to go find text books and read. What the hell.. I haven’t read any text books since I left secondary school.

Psychology lecturer reminds me of Bob Saget (once upon a time host of America’s Funniest Home Videos). Marketing lecturer is good with throwing out examples – which is extremely vital to me ‘cos without examples I usually catch no ball. Accounting lecturer is probably the funniest one. He looks like your typical nerd (or the typical stereotyped accountant) but he is amazingly good at cracking jokes and spicing up the lecture.

Eg: He was trying to illustrate something to us and used this example of how our marks in school differed as we grew older.

He said as we grew older, our marks just declined because when we were six, we only knew how to drink milk and study, but by the time we are 25, we must study and give milk.

Really. You look at him and you just wouldn’t expect anything like that to come out of his mouth, but that’s the icing on the cake. There’re loads more of funny stuff he says.

Back to my modules, I’m beginning to forget what was taught in HRM already. I desperately need to do some major revision lest the memory doesn’t come back in time for the exams in May.

I guess a lot more hard work needs to be put in for this year because I will need to polish my essay writing skills, and learn how to format my answers right. I need to get organised. FAST. Memorising the facts will be another huge hurdle.

I don’t know if I’m slow or what, but I seem to not be able to absorb what is being taught in lectures as fast as I did in year 1. Simple things such as credit and debit confuse me. I can’t follow the lecture as quickly.

All these are worrying me greatly. I’m deciding to do something about it. I want to set aside some time on alternative nights to revise. Thing is, I never was very good at revision either. Mathematical stuff are easier to revise because there’re questions where you try to solve them – and you can whip out one any time of the day and see how fast you can solve it. Essay questions aren’t so direct. You need to sit there for an hour straight just to get a framework for the essay nicely. Even then, you know that the answer could be answered in a few ways depending on how you justify your answer.

Ok. I’m beginning to ramble a lot. I am sooo looking forward to this weekend’s getaway to Bintan. After that it will be study study study in full force liaoz.
(see? Procrastinate again. Heehee…)

-----

Just got caught in the freaking rain. Luckily I worse my windbreaker out of the office. Can double up as a cover for me from the rain. Still got stuck at one of the shelters on the way back to office for 20mins though. Pants are wet now. Sandals are all squishy. Migraine still lingering despite the good pasta lunch. Ahh…

-----

Do guys have no qualms about leeching off a girl? First off, I'm not a feminist. However, neither am I from the era where I think "Men rule". I just thought that even if guys did not have as much finances as the girl, he'd try to work hard and pay off his expenses himself. If cannot afford it, DON'T HAVE IT.

Then again comes in the issue of the girl wanting to pay anyway. Hahahaha..

I also don't believe in borrowing money unless it's circumstances that put you in a position where it is the best way out (like if the whole family depends on a small income). Borrowing money for something you don't need - let's just say... a new computer - is just wrong. Ya. The current one you have no good, time to change, but not as if cannot use right? And not say you use the comp to do work anyway, it's only for GAMES!!! Got money then change. Broke liaoz don't come and tell me no money 'cos it's a choice of whether you want to have money or not.

[The above borrowing-of-money-for-computer scenario was completely made up and was simply used to make my point. Repeat: THE SCENARIO IS NOT REAL.]

The migraine's at work. I don't know if what I typed made sense, just more random thoughts as I sat here, hoping to get dry.

And honestly? This is really a post to fill up the gap since Monday.

I am THAT girl

mrbrown did his “I am the ..” post. It was really sweet, so I decided to do mine (during lunch time again) to see what I could come up with.

I am that girl

A literary meme inspired by MercerMachine and his post that started it all (trackbacks can be seen via Tomorrow.sg).

I am the girl who never realised how much she had until a week’s stay in a hospital.

I am the girl who has always been surrounded by people who loved her and looked out for her.

I am the girl who believes that life is a choice between being happy or sad, so why not be happy.

I am the girl who treasures the past, lives for the moment, and has plans for tomorrow.

I am the daughter who made my mummy cry when I stole my passport and snuck out to Johore for a day.

I am the daughter who may not speak to daddy very much but loves and respects him all the same.

I am the sister who cried every time she heard mummy punish her.

I am the sister who tried to involve her in her life as much as possible to look out for her.

I am the girlfriend who falls in love over and over when you look at her, send her home or hold her hand.

I am the girlfriend who you can give a stuffed toy to, and will give you back an iPod mini. (OK ok.. joking lahz.. heehee.. here’s the actual one…)

I am the girlfriend who still cannot remember when you talked to her in secondary school.

I am the auntie who melts when she hears you call her “ah yeeee”.

I am the friend who cannot stay angry at them for long.

I am the friend who holds dear each person she calls friend.

I am the employee who had a good mentor when she was 16, and taught her to develop the attitude she has towards work that she has today.

I am the student who hates to study for exams yet enjoys listening during the lectures.

I am the band member who never could play very well, but still managed to hang around till now.

I am the animal lover who will not deliberately kill any living animal, even if it were an ant.

I am the girl who does not condone cheating on partners, and can conjure ways not to kill, but torture such people.

I am the girl who is not interested in politics – office or state.

I am the girl who found blogging to be a new way to discover oneself.

I am the girl who really ought to be studying A LOT harder (‘cos she’s not studying at all).

I am the girl who one day wants to be able to take care of the household and family full-time.

I am all that and more. Who are you?

Side track: Do give this funny but useful post a read. Got it from http://tomorrow.sg.

What a handful

It is certainly no joke to take care of a kid. It just drains every bit of energy out of you, but when he looks at you and pleads you to play with him some more, somehow some kind of energy gets welled up in you and you gather yourself to do anything for him.

The power of kiki.
Hahahaha!

Saturday:
[In case anyone should get confused, my sis = ki's mummy.]
Got to the lantern festival late. An hour late. Dearie and I had left his grandma's place at 7, and to make things worse, we missed an exit on the expressway and made a big round before finally meeting up with ki and his mummy.

[My parents had brought the good Casio Exilim camera to Malacca so I was left with the Fuji one which would have been good if it weren't faulty. BLECH. So most of the photos here were taken with my sis' Canon - which was really laggy.]

Just check out all the fun he had last night!

It was amazingly crowded. I never knew there were so many kids in the area - and I never knew that this kinda event really got people will go sia.

Here's a failed attempt at a photo:

Then the successful one:

We reached there in time for the lantern procession. We joined in towards the tail of the line. It was a loooong walk.

Ki ki started to get tired and would stop at times. Dearie was carrying him alot of the way actually. Ki loves Dearie to carry him 'cos he can carry him and fling him all over the place.

We stopped again for Ki to rest and for Dearie to take a time-out too. [Btw, his aeroplane lantern is a gift from Nisa's bf. Dearie liked it alot. HAHAHAHA!]

As we took our rests, we began to fall back to be the last few people of the procession. Incidentally, MP for our constituency Mr Arthur Fong was mingling around, and his helpful assistant offered to snap a photo for us!!! THis photo is soooo going to be proudly displayed at home!

We walked on and spotted the moon. Big and round. It's the highest roundest thing at the top of the photo.

On and on we went, and made our way back to the event area.

Ki was tired. He hadn't ate dinner. It was late. He drank alot of water though. The night was extremely warm.

We allowed him to snack in the mean time.

We called home to check if Nisa was around. We asked her to help us call for Macdonalds while we prepared to make our way back. When we left, the place was still very crowded. The lucky draw was to be held only another 1-2hrs later.

See what I mean?

Along the way, he wanted to play this little springy thingy so we just let him.

He got his dose of dinner when we got back, and he began to turn the whole place upside down. Needless to say he did ask for his grandma and grandpa (my parents) a few times, but eventually he was satisfied enough with we 3 sisters.

He was exhausted, but still insisted on playing. Nisa had to rush her assignment(s) so she could only help to play with him as and when she stepped out of the room. It didn't help that she was not eating.

His mummy and I were running after him the whole night. I think guys are (like what a few of my lecturers have already mentioned - from research some more) really weaker. He must have been very tired and just landed up reading the papers and watching TV. He loves ki, but I think the lantern procession really wore him out too. (Ki heavy lehz.) Anyway, it was my sis and my responsibility for the night to care for him.

Somehow, while playing, he lay down on the sofa while Dearie was reading the papers, and he just suddenly fell asleep before I could read to him. Awwwww.....

Dearie tried to carry him into the room, but in the end we still had to let his mummy do it. Then I crashed in with Dearie on the couch to enjoy some TV time. My sis prepared to sleep on the arm chair (which can be laid out quite comfortably as a makeshift bed) 'cos for some reason she didn't feel like sleeping in my parents' room.

I snuggled with Dearie till late, and toggled with the TV volume so we wouldn't wake my sis up, but I think she was so exhausted she wouldn't have minded. Nisa was still busy with her assignment going in and out of the room every now and then.

By the time Dearie got home, I fell asleep in my bed..... Since ki was going to wake up and mess up the house, we didn't bother to clean the place up.

It was such a wonderful deep sleep..... but it just had to be ruiined by the storm. At 6am, I woke up and had to close the windows in the house. My sis woke up but quickly fell back to sleep. I didn't see Nisa come out from hers and assumed she slept through it.

[I later learnt she had woken up 3 times that night - once 'cos my mum called at 4am when our brother-in-law called asking the whereabouts of my sis; second time was 'cos ki had somehow set a radio alarm to go off in her room; and third time was 'cos of the rain, but she couldn't get up after all the previous awakenings.]

By 9am, ki was up and ready for more action again. I pulled myself out and started to watch over him and see what he needed. His mummy woke up when we walked over to her. It was going to be the start of yet another super tiring day.

His mummy started looking for food for ki, and washed him up. I watered the plants, fed the rabbits and fish, and prepped myself to play with ki some more.

We brought him to Shop n Save opposite our place 'cos I needed to buy my dad's New Paper (my dad's obsessed with newspapers), and the rabbits needed more food.

By 2pm, I tried to get ki to take a nap. Who'd have known I fell asleep first, and my sis landed up having to try to read and sing to him. I think I was KO-ed for a good 2 hours. I could've slept some more, but leaving my sis to take care of ki alone would be a tad cruel wouldn't it? Mother and son alone time together good lahz, but left for too long can be damn difficult lorz.

By 8pm, ki had to go back to his other grandma's place. My sis got all the stuff ready and they set off. I was a little reluctant to let him go. He had drained all my energy but he was just sooooooooo cuuuuuute. He didn't seem like he wanted to leave, but when his mummy lef the house, he promptly followed her out. Only his mummy got the power to bring him back to his other grandma's house without crying. I can't say the same about when his mum has to go back to her house and leave ki though.

Ah well... it was exhausting. My parents came back before 10. By then I had cleared all of ki's toys, tidied up the house, and cleaned the floor. I am most definitely better at keeping the house clean than anything else. It didn't take me long and it didn't seem to feel as tired after, as compared to playing with ki for say half an hour.

-----

So I didn't get to cook for Dearie today. But he did get to go for his sashimi buffet with his buddies. I'll be off to Bintan next weekend. YIPPEEEEE...

Tomorrow's yet another day at work. Lots to do. I've got classes on Mon, Tues AND Wed nights. Gonna be tough.

Another busy and happening week ahead. I'm just another girl, but somehow my itinerary is always bursting with events and plans... Only when I started this blog did I realise that I actually have this full a life. Wow.

But I've treasured every moment of it. From the beginning (meaning before this blog horz), I've savoured and basked in how lucky I am. I have a good life. I know it. And I'm thankful for it.

On my own.. sort of

It was Friday. I stared at it sitting on my desk. A quick peek at the clock showed it flashed 12:00. I stayed still and listened. No footsteps, no photocopying sounds, no typing.

I thought it was safe. I decided to go for it.

My hand reached out...

... and I grabbed the muesli bar.

I told myself this would be my lunch for today.

Just as I was into my last bite, a shadow appeared in front of me. It was one of the engineers who was attached to my office.

"Wanna go eat lunch together?"

My plan failed. MISERABLY. Anyhow, the bar wasn't filling enough, so what the hey, I decided to just go for lunch. It'd be a good time to mingle abit.

This is just another one of those major signs to say that eating less for lunch is just not what I'm destined to do. So to hell with that too. haha!

After work I trudged my way down to Orchard to make payment for the Bintan trip. Everything went well and it was time for the main part of what I had planned to do - SHOOOOOPPPPIIINNNGGGGGG!!!

Several failed attempts at shopping made me determined to go take a stroll around Far East Plaza, in hopes to at least see some potential buys.

It proved to be an evil place with loads of temptation. All the pretty things staring into my face, enticing me to buy... buy.... buy........

I told myself that I was broke now, and should refrain from these material wants. But alas, I gave in, and spreeeeed. Thankfully after much calculation, it all only amounted to $77. A yellow top for $19.90, 2 bras for $15, eyebrow trimming for $12 and a pair of heels fo $29.80. HA! [But really, what I was looking for was a white top - 'cos mine's worn out and starting to tear; and a pair of flats.]

Then I realised I hadn't had dinner. OOPS.

And I didn't even finish shopping the entire Far East Plaza.. just 2 floors.

Lugging my stuff around, I decided to take a cab home. I took the underpass to Orchard MRT, and thought to myself that Wisma has a taxi stand. I landed up window shopping for at least another half hour before I made my way up to the taxi stand. Oops. Eh. At least I didn't make my way over to Taka ok?!

Don't let me loose at Orchard. With or without $$$, I'll still shop. hahaha!

I did see a white top at long last - but it bloody cost $39.90. Ridiculous. So damn difficult to find a white sleeveless top versatile enough for office and going out. Can't even find a proper one on Yahoo! Auctions. Kaoz.

I've been shopping around alone so much. A little too much maybe. Gotta stop getting so used to it. In fact, better stop shopping at least till my salary is in!!!

Oh. I think I saw Sylvester Sim at Topshop. Brushed past him then it struck me who he was. Ah well. Never was a fan of his. THAT CHEATER BUG.

So I finally made my way up to the taxi stand and witnessed a long queue. Decided to walk out to the junction to flag one, but seeing the traffic and number of taxis "HIRED", I figured I should just cross the road and take a bus.

Sure enough, once I got there, my bus came.

HENG AH!!!

------

Showed off my new stuff to my mummy, who had earlier went on a spree at Watsons and spent the same amount I spent at Far East. I spend on 2 floors, she spend on ONE shop ok?! Hahahaha!

She going Malacca with my daddy over the weekend. My dad's company organised this 2D1N trip. So good.... I really hope I can organise something like that for my company.

Anyone who got lobang for travel agencies in organising such trips (3D2N or 2D1N) please please please let me know!!! Thanks!!!

That leaves me and the dieting pig at home. She usually isn't at home, so it could just land up as me home alone. Apparently she's got some assignment due, so this means she'll be sticking around.

------

TOnight going to bring kiki play lantern!!! Before that got to attend Dearie's Grandma's birthday. bzbz...

I may like to cook for Dearie tomorrow...... please take note that I have NEVER cooked before (instant noodles not counted). I've helped around in the kitchen now and then, but never had the guts to cook. If I do get around doing to, rest assured I'll blog about it - provided I don't blow up the kitchen with myself inside.

Sick ki is still as cute

The little one was ill and my mum called to inform me at the office. He had the flu and had vomitted. My mum rushed over to see him and bring him to the doctor.

No one at the other grandma's place really had the time and effort to take care of kiki after her spine operation, so after going to the doc's, my mum brought him back to our place.

As usual, it was heaven to kiki.

WHen I came home, he was napping, and since I was so damn tired, I slept too, up till the moment he woke up.

As usual, messed up the house, and played his favourite stuff. His mummy, as like all evenings after work, came to see him too. So cute seeing mother and son together. A pity the dad is too engrossed with his gaming that he doesn't even seem to bother about his boy. From what I hear he couldn't even be bothered about anything in the house except his games. That's just sad. Pathetic really. My sis has to handle all the maintenance stuff around the house herself.. BIANGZ.

Well, at least there's always ki.. albeit a sick one. He still had a great time despite the coughs and sneezes.

He likes to sit on my bed. Don't know why.

Ki and his mama. (Ki's kissing the penguin, by the way.)

This photo was supposed to turn out better than the last one 'cos he was smiling. Then he held up the envelope to cover both of them. HAHAHAHA! So cute. No wonder he was smiling before I snapped.

My sis requested for "no flash" that's why this one's dark. She was letting him watch trailers for March Of The Penguins. He still wanted to watch the trailer for Disney+Pixar's upcoming car show. Don't know what's the title but he likes it 'cos the cars can talk. haha! He likes the trailer for Herbie too. But his mummy's getting quite tired of watching the same 2 trailers over and over.

Haha! Caught ki just before he sneezed.

Mother and son... Awwww...

For some reason, ki finds it amusing to go in and out of the room, opening and closing the door. It's like peekaboo to him.

Enjoying the mess on my bed.

His kiddy ride on Stitch.

Ki shows you how to ride on Stitch (sit on the neck and hold both ears as handles).

Next photo very scary so be warned:

This is how ki expects me to play with him every time he's on Stitch. I must sit on dog and both of us will hop around - only that it's much more difficult for me and my legs will probably feel an ache the next day - depending on how long I had to play it with him.
Who ask him so cute.
I saw the photo is scary 'cos you see me squishing my stuffed dog, and I actually just stepped out of the bath (thhus the wet messy hair and all). This is as raw as you can get to see me.
Quite hideous.

Oh. And to prove that I have indeed gained weight (which I attribute to pasta):

Once upon a time I weighed 41kg, then it gradually increased and this has been the biggest jump so far in all the fluctuations.
I'm fine with what I am now - just that I'm worried about it going up higher and not coming down. haha!

For a "safe" photo to look at, here is the mess that Ki left behind in my room before going back.

Already considered quite neat. Other weekends it's far worse.
But again, who ask him so cute. He do anything we also ok one. haha!

Mood swings suck

Classes resumed on Monday. This semester I will be taking:
- Elements of Applied Social Psychology
- Marketing
- Principle of Accounts

Before class, I met up with a course mate to pass her some old notes. She didn’t make it pass her Econs and Maths.

Her first words were: WAH! Ni3 fa1 fu2 le4!!! [Meaning: WAH! You’ve put on weight!]

That simply confirms what the weighing scale(s) have been telling me, on top of my mum’s observant eyes.

To anyone who needs to gain weight, here’s the tip: Eat pasta. Eat it at least once a week. It apparently works. DESPITE my 1km jogs in May and June, and the occasional ones in July/Aug, PASTA WORKS.

Ok. Back to class. Luckily it was Psychology – ‘cos it’s the subject I’ve been wanting to take up ever since I knew it was available. I didn’t and still don’t care about the examinations portion of this subject. At least not yet.

Best part was that the lecturer was funny. Classes at SIM are very important to me. As it is I don’t study outside of class time, so I must be super attentive in class. It really helps that most of the lecturers really take the effort to spice it up and make it interesting enough for us to not doze off halfway.

Tuesday:

My mobile phone was still with YL so I was stuck with my dad’s Panasonic. It was hell to SMS. I am so thankful that my beloved nokia is back ‘cos YL actually came to my place to return it!

-----

That entire day I was busy making calls to travel agencies and being the middleman between my friends and the agency was certainly quite an annoying experience. Somehow, within this gang, I always land up being the coordinator or organiser for outings or even birthdays. Could be ‘cos I like it (and I do it for a living anyway), but there’s a limit to everything.

When work is piling up and I still gotta do all that stuff, I get irritated. I’m lucky the travel agency girl was really patient and all. Everything seems to be settling down nicely now. I hope. If the trip goes well, at least all these wouldn't be in vain, and I shall bask in the fruits of my labour.

-----

The dieting pig is detoxing. She’s going to fast for 10 days, and will only allow herself to drink a maple syrup drink during that period. This is her weight-loss plan.
I think it’s nuts.
My mum’s pissed off.
People out there not enough food to eat, here she is, taking a bite of what my mum prepares for her then say she’s not allowed to eat any more. In a way this maple syrup thingy may be better. My mum needn’t prepare anything so no food (and effort) will go to waste.

Whatever. We have no hold over whatever she does anyway. We’ll just watch and see what happens.

-----

All my life savings have been put into a fixed deposit. For the next 2 years I will be broke. It’s been a loooong time since I had to worry about keeping my account above $500. The returns are actually quite lousy, but definitely many times better than a bank’s.

Henceforth begins the test on whether my take home salary of about $1100+ is enough for me.

I wonder when Dearie will ever return me the money for his bike……. I’m starting to think that it is NEVER………………. (‘cos he wants to buy a new computer first, then a PSP, more games, World Of Warcraft, and then a bigger bike. I ask you: when would you forsee him returning any money?! Some more he need to return money for his studies.)

Yeah yeah. Of all things I could be irritated about, it had to be money. Well, I worked damned hard for it, so don't expect me to be nice about it. When I lent it, I was given the expectation that I would receive a sum every month till it's paid off.

Again, whatever. Need to stop giving myself problems to think about.

Either way...

I will never ever lend big sums of money to anyone any more.

NEVER.

-----

This is probably the worst blog entry I’ve ever written. I feel worn out today. My dark eye circles are a huge sign that I am in need of sleep. I’ve got Accounts class tonight. Ahhh…

Plenty of stuff on my mind. Can’t concentrate on anything properly. My thoughts are all over the place.

I think it’s just that I’m burnt out. I’m very tired, but I don’t have enough leave to take a day off and relax. I hope the Bintan trip will help. I seriously need some pampering.

Then again it could be my freaking mood swing. Damn things come and go. At least I have this avenue to rant.

Lilies On The River - d-day

Got myself ready to leave the house at 1pm 'cos we needed to pick Kiki and his parents up. We were ALL going for the event. Mainly to watch me on stage. Don't say I evil horz. I already advised them to bring earplugs or listen at their own risk.

Ki was so excited to be going out. He always is. And the more the merrier.

Dad parked at the parliament carpark, so we had to walk the length of boat quay to reach the event location (which was just outside Raffles MRT).

The sun was scorching. The heat was unbelievable. I wasn't wearing much and I was already starting to sweat through my top. Some more I thought I was one of those who can tahan heat better. Apparently not this type of noon-heat.

Ki probably couldn't care less. He was fascinated enough by the lilies that were floating on the water, and the boats on the river.

The carnival had many stores lined up along the river and many passers-by did stop to listen to the performances on stage and take a look at what was on sale. I did see more volunteers than visitors though.

I managed to meet up with YL. I lent her my HP (hers low batt mahz) and went without one the entire afternoon. No biggie to me since no one ever looks for me anyway - except during work days, for work. blech.

Ironically, my mum bought a toy handphone for kiki and he was glued to it completely ever since.

Makes him feel like an adult... awwwww...

YL was very busy the entire day. I saw her and Evelyn running around the whole place very often. I wanted to help, but I didn't even know how. I was also getting increasingly nervous when May was not there yet. And that our turn to perform just kept creeping up closer...... I got to talk to her on and off throughout the afternoon.

But YL took some time out to greet kiki who was STILL fascinated with his toy handphone.

At the same time she handed me some coupons worth $10 - for performers sia. I didn't even know got such privilege. So cool.

Somehow, time flew by. May came with the keyboard, her mum and the maid. Her mummy's the super kan cheong type. Reminds me of my mum a long time ago - but also not so extreme. haha! But her mum's really nice. Heehee!

We all kan cheong about our performance which was scheduled after a Taufik-soundalike. Kaoz. If people compare confirm we jialatz wat!!!
A good thing we noticed was that there weren't that many people seated in front of the stage to listen to the performances. There were speakers throughout the carnival, but at least we didn't have to see their faces when they grimaced at my voice. Haha!

Then, the time came. The emcees gave the intro to our performance. I really should've vetted the "script" sia. Say I win awards for singing before. WAH KAOZ! Eons ago I win in SECONDARY school competition SECOND prize only lorz. And my company one is also HENG HENG get it. Again it's SECOND nia. Award means only 1 prize and that 1 person got it lehz.

STRESS.

We went up on stage, tested the mics and couldn't wait to get it over and done with. We were really thankful for the few people who did stick around and managed to keep their faces straight. There were some really good performances before us, making ours seem amateurish and under-practised (which of course, is the truth).

Check out how retarded I look.

Both of us, in all our nervousness started off, and sure enough, I forgot my lyrics. Ah-HA! I already knew I was going to forget so I just made sure I kept quiet and let the piano fill the couple of lines that I missed. HA! Otherwise, everything else went ok on my side. May slipped a few notes, and I didn't hit some too accurately either. All in all, we did our best and just as we expected.

I really enjoy going on stage but when it's to sing in English for the first time, you're under-rehearsed, it doesn't seem like such a good idea after all.

Still, we pulled it off. I saw Kiki clapping through every song I sang, and applause everytime it ended. My brother-in-law had a great time whistling and cheering, making heads turn. My elder sis was of course, the photographer. Most of this part's in video, but I managed to extract this:

Tada! My brother-in-law. Haha!

Ok lahz. Here's a screenshot again.

Right after I got down from stage, May and I were absolutely relieved and quickly got back to our mummies. We said tata to each other and to YL who was still busy running around.

YL said she's got an even bigger event at the end of the year. She has ideas of putting a musical on stage. A musical-loving person like me has always wanted to be part of one - even if I were to stand there as a tree. But after this 1 time performance, I'm not so sure if I'm cut out for that now.

I'll make do with any backstage work though? Heehee!

Movie Day with Dearie

After rehearsal with May, I went to catch Charlie & The Chocolate Factory at Plaza Singapura. There was only 1 slot, so by the time I reached the counter (yes, I know got AXN machines to use, but I'm paying by voucher so must queue up. I don't know if everyone else also use voucher, but the AXN machines seemed VERY deserted.), I was only offered the 1st 2 rows.

NO WAY.

After considering "Cinderella Man" with Russell Crowe, "Perfect Catch" with Drew Barrymore, I figured the in-between show for Dearie and me would be "One More Chance".

[I'm not usually the kind who'd watch romantic movies, but I heard it's a comedy. And Cinerella Man is not on my list of "I would like to watch" movies.]

It turns out that the movie is actually not too bad. I do not wish to spoil too much of it but you can read Ah Chang's take on the movie, which I quite agree on.
Adding on to it, I do think that the tissue-paper-worthy bits were Mark Lee's love for his daughter and Ah Hui + his mother that portion. Damn real. Can feel for them sia. A pity about the kua zhang ending though.

-----
Ok. Here comes the spoiler. Anyone who has the intention to watch the movie please do not read this next paragraph.
It is my favourite part of the movie - the FARNIEST!

LANG2 JIA4 HUM1
In Hokkien, Sung to the tune of "San1 Zhi1 Lao2 Hu3", with translation in brackets

Lang Jia Hum, Lang Jia Hum (Man eats cockles, man eats cockles)
Lang Pang Sai, Lang Pang Sai (Man will shit, Man will shit)
Hum Jia Sai, Hum Jia Sai (Hum eats shit, Hum eats shit)
Lang Jia Hum, Lang Jia Hum (Man eats cockles, man eats cockles)
-----

Oh. A must add about GV's promotion now is this World Of Warcraft combo. Dearie was in a very very very sianz mood (his own words ok?) when he came to Plaza Sing to look for me. He IMMEDIATELY perked up upon my telling him of the combo. HUMPH. Sianz mood my ass.

The boy is now the proud owner of the 7 day trial DVD that came with the whopping $8.50 set of popcorn and large ice-tea. Oh, and he kept the cup too. It's not the coca cola one you see in the photo but a much better quality one with WoW decorated on it.

After the movie we headed to his place 'cos I wanted to finish off watching the movie DVD APPLESEED that we only managed to watch halfway some time back.
Not too bad a movie. Though the ending wasn't very satisfying.

And after that, we scanned around the channels, were wow-ed by the CSI-type of efficiency the police showed in handling the "severed body parts at orchard MRT"-case, then settled for a lame Chinese movie on channel 8.

The both of us were starving, but we simply couldn't get ourselves to get food before the movie ended. I contemplated calling Macdonalds in, but Dearie said we could just ride out to Taman Jurong's 24hr Mac.

We did, and it was already waaay past midnight. That ah-beng-ah-lian infested place did look very desserted when we got there. The Mac delivery people seemed quite busy going in and out with their huge delivery bags.

Our super salty pack of fries was quite scary. Even such a salt lover like me couldn't take it. Can you imagine: we were hitting and scraping salt off each fry so we could eat it without dehydrating later. haha! The tray was lined with a layer of salt after all of that sia. Quite a scary sight. HAHA!

On the bike home, I was trying to recall all the lyrics for the performance coming up.
I couldn't.
Eeks.

Pre-"Lilies On The River"

I was scheduled to perform on Sunday, 11 September, 4:30pm at the "Lilies On The River" event, organised by Viriya Community Services. All thanks to YL's last minute call that allowed me less than a week to prepare. But considering it was a 15min slot, it shouldn't have sounded so difficult.

But it was.

On Friday night, I rushed over to her centre after work for a rehearsal. This would be the first time I met May, a sweet young girl from RGS. She's only in sec 3 and she's doing her diploma for piano. wow... I only got mine in Poly lorz. Kids nowadays.. waaaah...

However, I observed that May was very classically trained, and she herself said that she usually only practised classical music. Back when I was learning how to play the piano, I was expected to pick up non-examinable pieces be it New Age, Pop, etc. But for her to be able to pick up the pieces so quickly, I was glad enough. And considering that I was super unable to memorise any lyrics yet, she was definitely doing much better than I.

Anyway, met her mum when she came to pick May up. We explained that the keyboard that we had used for our rehearsal that night would not sound good enough to put on stage. Her mum immediately whipped out her handphone and started making calls. You see, it's not that YL's centre (it's called Dreams @ Kolam Ayer) doesn't have a piano, but there is no budget to shift it there. It's not cheap to do so, so I understand why.

I stayed around to mess around with the piano abit more, and later that night, before going off, learnt from YL that May's mum managed to rent a Clavinova for $100 for 2 days. Luckily YL's colleague managed to find another keyboard that same night so they could help the mum save that money. (We can tell the family's rich, but still... not good to use people's money like that.)

----------

Saturday: I went down to Dreams for a final rehearsal with May. I had managed to remember the lyrics a bit better with that repetitive singing from the night before. We managed to rehearse on the keyboard YL's colleague borrowed. Definitely much better. She still stumbled at certain portions, and I struggled to remember the lyrics better. We continued to work on our chemistry and cues.

After 2 hours, we still made mistakes. Uh-oh.
And we all had to go already. DOUBLE uh-oh.

We said our goodbyes and wished each other all the best.

Interim update

I will give a more proper update with photos okie? Just that I have this 15min long performance later that I am going to screw up.

I reached Lido early and shopped around. Like last weekend, I didn’t see anything worth buying at all. This is an all-time-low for shopping. Argh…

My elder sis came promptly at 7. We went over to the reception area where it seemed a feast was waiting. Unfortunately, the feast was not for us. We could only stand around and look:

Too bad you can’t see the tiger girls standing around inside. Haha! I’ve got a super lousy camera on my phone.

My elder sis noticed a discrepency on the ticket. We noticed all the very well dressed and ever smiley crowd going into Lido 1. Our ticket stated Lido 3.

Hmm…

We stood around to stare at the crowds move and noticed that the more “normal”-looking people like us were going into Lido 3, so we came to the conclusion they segregated us that way. Must be a security feature huh? President Nathan and his wife there also mah, although I didn’t get to see him at all.

We got in and realised that we were sitting on the 3rd row. Luckily still can watch properly. And each seat had a “Be With Me” poster too. We started to munch on our dinners. (McChicken only $2 sia.)
Surprisingly there were trailers, but I am so thankful for those ‘cos we got to see “Corpse Bride” and “Harry Potter” trailers!!! MUST WATCH!!!

---
About the movie:
“Be With You” weaves several lives together, but focuses on one: Theresa. [In fact she is on the front page of Life! today.] She is blind and deaf. The movie is based on her life. Please read the subtitles when they come on because at first I thought it was a technical glitch – subtitles appearing faster than the acting – but turns out it is actually a “silent narration” of some details.

The movie is extremely quiet. The main sounds you hear are a piano piece from the soundtrack, atmospheric sounds and the very rare dialogue. It seems to accentuate every movement on screen and bring out the acting. Now I understand why my scriptwriting lecturer told us to use minimal dialogue in our scripts.

One of the reviews at Cannes mentioned that he cried at the end of the movie, and added that that was a rarity in itself. Personally (and my sis agrees), it wasn’t as emotional as we had expected it to be. [It could have been the people at the back who giggled at some in appropriate points that spoiled some moments?] It was moving, and a good art film for non-art film watchers like me to even understand. Everything was kept simple. Minimalistic. No exaggeration. Could be why everything seemed so real.

Thresea’s life journey is exposed in the movie. After this you just gain a whole load of respect for her and life. All the problems we have suddenly become negligible.

Yes, there’s a pair of lesbians in the movie. Young school girls, to be precise. ANYONE who wants to catch the movie just to see this has to be out of his/her mind. They only take a small portion of the movie, and during that small portion, the “hottest” action you get to see are the 2 girls sharing a soft short kiss whilst in their uniforms. Sit through a nearly 2 hour movie just to see this scene? Nahhh.. but their love story with bouts of sms-es may be good for youngsters to see that their “problems” in such relationships are minute compared to other bigger problems happening to people around us. Additional message I deciphered from there is to NOT ignore sms-es from people who are sad and emotional – HUGE no-no ‘cos you never know when your ignorance is going to cause them to lose their life, and that you could have helped.

---

When we walked out of the cinema, we noticed that the who’s-who at Lido 1 were not out yet. Eric Khoo was speaking to some fellas behind us while we noticed this. Haha! I guess everyone at Lido 1 needed to wait for all the credits to roll and give some applause.

We stared at the buffet layout once more and pondered what were the chances of us getting in. The staff at the buffet had been standing around waiting for a long time. I wonder why they even had to set everything up before the movie.

My sis needed to get some food and wanted to show me this food place called “Pepper Lunch” (or something like that). It’s a place where you pay to cook what you eat. Biangz. I can go home and do that too.

We went to the confectionery, and I spotted this:

Expensive weiners. I don't know what got into me. I just had to snap it.

We saw a row of mooncakes on sale. All sorts of weird flavours every year. Anyone who wants to get free samplings of mooncakes can go to Shaw (Lido) basement 1, near the confectionery, and try mooncakes from Hyatt, Haagen Daaz, etc. My sis said that there’re even more at Raffles The Plaza. Hmm… Too bad I don’t like mooncakes. Haha!

We had to head back up ‘cos her husband needed some food so we went up the way we came to where we were orginally. This time we saw that people were spilling out of Lido 1. Ooh… You could just tell that these people are either from the media, or in some industry close enough to them. Everyone seemed to know everyone else.

We stood there for a long while. We people watched and guess who I captured?

Elizabeth Choy! This World War II veteran was being led by a couple of people. She made an appearance in the movie.

This was as close as I could get to the buffet:

Which really doesn’t look very near at all. We really wanted to go in, but we noticed that even some ang mohs who were dressed in a smart looking business coat were turned away. If you see Chinese dressed that way, they CONFIRM can go in liaoz otherwise they won’t bother to dress like that.

We stood around some more and saw the people walk in while they flashed their passes. We had the same invitation cards but remember? Our ticket does say Lido 3 and not 1. My sis couldn’t bear it anymore and decided we should just go in and see what the door bitches do to us.

So we did, and we noticed a couple more people being turned away. We noticed that those who could enter had an extra line printed on their invitation card. Wow. Apparently even if you were in Lido 1 it might not mean you get to go in anyway.
We turned away quickly enough and headed right for food again. We saw Ericia Lee being interviewed with her boyfriend Ix Shen busy talking to some other people.
Very odd couple I’d say. Ix Shen looks good – tall and well-built, though doesn’t seem huggable; while Ericia Lee had this incredulous waistline with her unproprotionate boobs. I say it’s a good bra or implants. I’ll prefer the good bra argument. Any girl can have big boobs with a push-up.
Too bad they’re too expensive. I have no intention to get a whole drawer of maximisers so that I do not have ever boobs that inflate and deflate when I wear different ones. No padding best. Easy to wash. Long lasting. Not cheating. (Like anyone will know.) Good for the pocket. Not so obvious when I go without.

Ok. I digress again.

Back to last night.

We got the food. An ang moh asked me what was the event going on and we told him. He asked if the prime minister was there. I nearly wanted to tell him that the prime minister won’t attend this kind of stuff. Only the president would. Hahahaha!

We got a cab back. I reached home slightly past 10, just like during days when I have classes. Only I was much more exhausted. I made a mental note to call YL once I got back ‘cos she sms-ed me so.

Ah… like she predicted… YL’s performers pulled out on her less than a week to her event. Young kids (in a VERY good JC horz) got no sense of responsibility lor. Kaoz. Both girls were supposed to put up an item on the piano but for some reason they don’t have time to rehearse. What the hell?!?!?!?! In JC and got Grade 8 or so, means you didn’t get the certificate too long ago lor!!! Which also means that you are probably still in touch with the piano! Biangz.

And best part was that YL needs some light hearted pieces. Preferably those familiar tunes, pop-ish kind of music. She said that the 2 girls were very classically trained. Okaaaay. Don’t tell me their entire life they only practice examination pieces hor. Never play anything out of classical music mehz?! If that’s the case then really… the certificate can throw away lah. Anyway, pop music easy to play on piano what. Just sight read a few more times than usual, listen to the original, more or less can play lor! Not say must sound perfect wat.

I stopped playing for so many years but at least if given ample time to practice (and a piano I can use at any time at home), I also can play. And some more I was and still am a lousy player! (Check my cert and you’ll know why. Hahahaha!)

Well, YL needed help, and I said before that I would help her in whatever way I can if she asked. She did, so I will. She needs me to sing. She will try to get one of the girls to play the piano while I do that. I’d play and sing at the same time if I could. Told ya I’m not good at playing the piano already, still want me to multi-task like that ah? Haha! I need more than a week for all 3 songs lor!!! I don’t know which is worse, my singing or my playing.

She’s taking a huge risk asking me this… I’ve warned her already. I sound horrible never mind, ‘cos a cheena person like me singing English songs sure cannot make it anyway – otherwise I go Singapore Idol liaoz right??? But the horrible thing I always do is forget the lyrics. It’s happened to me at least twice on stage already okie? I have a history of that. I have never been able to remember word-for-word passages. It goes way back to primary/secondary school when we had to do so for “Chinese spelling”.

This makes a good reason to go ktv right? Hahaha! But I’m so sleeeeeepy… I need some rest before my immunity goes down and start catching everyone’s flu from the office.

Let’s see what happens this Sunday. If I do land up going on stage, it’ll be one interesting entry of my screw ups.

Screw diets

I know this is extremely familiar to Xiaxue readers. I seldom go to her site but I know she's said it before.

Remember me saying that I needed to watch what I eat? Well, SCREW THAT! HA! I am soooooo undisciplined for dieting.

Yesterday, Dearie picked me up from work for dinner. I was expecting to go to some kopitiam somewhere, but turns out Dearie couldn't decide what to eat either and asked me.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong move.

I said pasta. (oops! Slip of my tongue?)
He said OK.

And we sped off to Creation Cafe at Shaw Towers. Yummy pasta dinner set at $14.50. Mmmmm... The set came with garlic bread + soup, main course, a drink, and a hot chocolate brownie topped with a large scoop of ice-cream. WaHhhHhhHHhhHHhhh.... I still waaaannnntttttt...........

I don't know what is it with my recent addiction to pasta. I used to not even dare eat it. BLECH. Now I eat it every week.
Previously my weekly dose would be MacDonalds. Haha! Wait.. it almost still is. It somehow manages to squeeze into my menu every 2 weeks I think. Hmm....

Anyway, I just had lunch. I tried to cut down on some intake. I bought a bowl of double-boiled soup, and a piece of papaya and honey dew each. What the hell, altogether $3.50 + $0.50 + $0.50 = $4.50. I can buy pasta at another food court liaoz lorZ!~ Argh... So expensive. If I eat rice at most only $3.

So I say again: SCREW DIETS.

I'll rather exercise - provided I remember to. heehee.. I've been telling myself to do crunches or stretching before I sleep since last week. Once I get home, I go into "bum around" mode automatically and exercise is erased completely.

After getting lunch today, I got the sudden determination to go jogging tonight. Please note that by jogging I mean a miserable 1km jog horz. I take like 5 mins to complete that stupid distance. Pathetic. I am sure I can do alot better if I jogged everyday. I've got my dad's genes (explains why I'm so tan), and once upon a time I could actually do that dumb 2.4km and 3.2km super well. [Ok, it was only once, and it was the only year when I actually jogged every other day.]

Oh.. *beep beep* Guess what? My elder sis has got tickets to the Charity Gala Premiere to Eric Khoo's "Be With Me"!!! And she asked me to go with her!

So much for jogging tonight.

Oh, and it's held at Lido - which means that I'll be having a Macdonalds dinner.

Allow me to repeat: SCREW DIETS.

Just in case...

I usually find such forwarded mail very dubious (especially the part about that doctor), but this one actually sounds like a very possible trick to accomplish - just in case Singapore's CSI is not as power as what we see on the US tv series:

> PRECAUTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
>
> Subject: Careful of Taxi Drivers
>
> Please take caution when you take a taxi, especially the ladies. I
> received a email some months ago about a lady getting into a cab and felt uneasy and become faint when she smelt something like incense being burnt. She was smart enough to order the taxi to stop immediately and after throwing some money at the taxi man quickly get out of the taxi.
> She later got to know that if she had not stopped the taxi and gotten out, she would have fainted and raped by the taxi man (or a gang of rapists)! After reading this, I thought maybe this was one of those emails that you would read and just forget about it, but I was wrong!
>
> Few weeks ago, a visitor to our Chinese church who stayed in Puchong got into a taxi driven by an Indian man. When she sat into the taxi, there was a little burner and she could smell incense burning in the taxi.
> After awhile, she felt weak and unable to speak or shout. The Indian taxi man drove to a lonely road where there was hardly anyone and raped her. Before she was completely knocked out, she was told by the taxi guy that she was his number six victim. She was not only raped but also robbed!
>
> When she was conscious again, she quickly went to see a doctor. The sad thing is, the doctor knew she was raped but did not advise her what to do.
>
> The doctor just let her make the decision to make or not to make a police report. Since she does not know the rapist name and also the taxi number and in great fear after this trauma, she told the doctor that she would not dare to report to the polis. The doctor said since she dare not make the report, he would just have to destroy the medical report!
>
> Because the rapist took her whole bag with her IC in it, he got her address and even has the guts to come straight to her house and try to be funny with her.
>
> Please remember not to get into a taxi that smells funny and if
> possible don't get into a taxi alone, and if you have to do so, give a call or sms back to your friends or relatives and let them know the taxi registration number and if possible, the name of the taxi man. AND OPEN THE WINDOW!
>
> Gals... Please take note and Guys... Please forward to your female frens..

A Comex night

Ki woke me up this morning and I played with him the entire afternoon.

He squished my penguin by sitting on it. Blech. He's lucky he's cute enough to offset just about everything and anything he does.

By 3+ we had to bring him to my sister's place 'cos we all had plans. Turns out when we were on the way, my mum discovered that my elder sister was not home. Only the father was in, so we brought ki to his other grandma's place. We were assuming the maid they just hired for her would be in. [She just had an operation on her spine, you see.] Turns out, for some odd reason, the maid actually went with the auntie to some wedding. What the hell sia.....
Anyway, ki fell asleep so we weren't so worried and just left him with her. Poor boy.. hope he didn't start wailing when we woke up.

We continued on our car ride. Dad was gonna give me a lift to Marina Square. I was really hoping to check the "new" place out. But alas, it was true, the traffic at the exit of the ECP to Suntec was absolutely horrendous.

Guess what? My dad ended up having to drop me at Bugis. They were on their way to watch a concert by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (free tickets mahz). I figured it was still a shopping centre, and at least they could probably still make it to the place on time.

I happily made my way around Bugis Junction.. free to enter whatever shop I wanted and linger for as much as I liked. (Not like I don't do that with Dearie, but the feeling's different lahz.)

I checked out plenty of clothes, but only tried 1 top that ended up not fitting. Most of the clothes were well within what I was willing to pay (meaning around $30), but they either:
- didn't look good.
- not my size.
- bad quality (pasar malam cotton for $30? Sorry lorz. I'll go pasar malam and buy.)

Too bad I didn't go over to Bugis Street. I'm sure I'd have landed up with something over there, only that the weather was VERY WET and I was not about to huddle there today.

I ended up getting dinner for myself - 1 potato carochan (potato croquette) and 1 sausage bread. I bought a squid stick from Old Chang Kee, another carochan, and 3 tacopachi balls - all for Dearie. Got a papaya milkshake and was all set to make my way to Suntec.

Having no time constraints is such a wonderful feeling. I took my time walk to Shaw Towers, and then over the overhead bridge to Suntec. From there, I went into Watsons and this time (like what Watsons miraculously does to every other girl), I bought something. heehee...

I got ZA masks (usual $29.90) at $14.90 sia. BARGAIN AH! Just buy lorz. Otherwise whole day really no buy anything ah. Come out shop expect to go home with a load of clothes end up without anything. So horrible. I need to shop more on Yahoo Auctions liaoz.

Anyway, cut through the crowd and made my way up. I saw an advert on the way for a "Designer Brands" sale of up to 70% off. The small font read: Fragrances, Men's Apparel, Ladies' bags. Now BAGS is an attraction.

I happily made my way over, seeing the throngs of people going up and down the escalators while I walked to the hall for the sale. Guess what I saw? ANOTHER FREAKING MOB! I think as scary as the ones going to Comex! All queueing up at the cashier. I don't know how many hours they were inside shopping, and how many more it'll take for them to pay and get out.

I passed on the sale and just decided to go up to Comex instead.

The 6th floor was definitely more crowded today than on Friday. Squeezing through with the food getting cold in my hands, I finally got to a small clearing at the citibank booth. I stopped for a while to read something at their counter - and got caught doing it.

FOr the next 5-10 mins I had a chinaman (whose English sounded Hong-kee) trying to sell me Citibank's deposit plan. Sounded quite promising really (having a bank account with 1% interest - as opposed to current other banks giving 0.125%), since I've always wanted an account with them, but ever the sceptic, I just allowed him to take my name and contact numbers while I considered. I am afterall quite willing to hear what other plans they may have I could take up, and it was only after I came home and consulted my mummy that she said the 1% interest wouldn't be worth the trouble. The hunt continues.......

Meanwhile, I bid good bye to citibank and got to see Dearie at long last. He had bought his 17" Viewsonic LCD monitor. And check out what was his lucky dip prize:

Nope, not the paper bag but the 3 little birdies you see on the bottom. Yes, those 3 tiny birds that are supposed to look like those on the paper bag. They're made of those standard handicraft material with stick on eyes. His colleague (Shuxuan) and I just couldn't help laughing. He said even the salesperson laughed. HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHA!

I left my belongings with Dearie and went to the 4th floor to gather product info brochures for digital cameras, and to check out some prices. When I went in, I knew that I would only be able to collect as much as I could and butt out quickly. What a crowd. The whole floor was covered in brochures and stuff. People were buying stuff as if they were almost free.

I went to the various counters and got what I could from each. I tried to look out for what YL needed to get, but after scanning through several booths, I didn't see any carrying the items. Most of what I saw were laptops, PCs, cameras and printers. The peripherals were more of memory cards and CDs.

I managed to get out with a whole stack of brochures. I'll bring them to the office and scan through them during lunch or something.

Comex is supposed to close at 9pm, but there were the last minute buyers who came to Dearie's redemption booth. I tried to help when I could, and landed up leaving the place at 9:30pm.

Dearie didn't buy World of Warcraft afterall. He was hoping for prices to get slashed during the last 15 mins of the sale but it was not to be.

Shuxuan had also bought an LCD monitor (her dad and brother passed to her. dunno why didn't help her bring home.). Dearie was lugging his, and she lugging hers. All the way to the MRT station we went 'cos that was the only transport that seemed possible to get us home at all.

Dearie just told me his monitor has a dead pixel in the centre. Eeks. Gotta call them tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I'm way past my bedtime.

I'm hungry........
oh no....... I'm really going to grow fat at this rate.......

Band BBQ

I had been super busy with work and stuff until I didn't get to help out much for the BBQ (for the band) that happened tonight.

No photos by me 'cos I didn't bring my camera. Didn't bring my camera because waistpouch no space.

BUT!

Yongxiang took many photos for his blog so do head over for a peek!
Meanwhile, I leeched these off ('cos I'm in the photos mah):

Wilfred (left) and Yingshun (the soon-to-be-father) in the centre. There I am in my au naturel state.

Crappy sia. Really should have tucked my hair behind my ears - if only my fingers were not oily.

Caught me in the act, taking a time-out bite on a hot dog in the midst of bbq-ing.

I went to YL's place to pick up the radio, and lugged it all the way to Bedok, then took a cab to East Coast Big Splash.

They actually managed to get the pit right in front of Big Splash. Good spot. A small handful were busy starting the fire. I most certainly do not know how to start one so I made myself scarce.

One of the band mates is married and his wife is pregnant. I last saw her in June (during our concert) when she still didn't look like she was pregnant. Today I saw her with the tummy big and round. Such a pretty sight. The baby is due next month. So exciting.... heehee... THey even have a name for her already: Natalie. Awwwwwwwwwwwww................

Anyway, when the fire finally got going, we started the cooking. That was about 6pm (I think). My turn to contribute and watch over the food. It actually is the whole point of BBQ-ing isn't it? Doing the food is actually more fun than just eating it - and healthier too. Haha! Some more everything was from www.bbqwholesale.com so it was super easy to cook. No preparation or whatever needed. Just throw it onto the BBQ pit and make sure you get it out when it looks done.

People came late of course. By 7pm we already cooked most of the food and I pretty much had my share already.

There was a family that snuggled by the lamp post very close to our pit. A bunch of us were curious about what they were doing huddling there. Turned out they grabbed a pail of water from the sea and were picking out what was in it. Guess what? There were tiny fish and they were transferring them over to a big empty bottle. The most amazing part was that they actually caught a tiny jelly fish too!!! It was about the size of a 50cent coin, swimming about in the bottle. Wow.....

We hung around and talked some more till about 9+ before we all started the car-pooling for everyone's trip home.

A simple get together. I enjoyed it.

---------------------

I'm planning to go to Marina Square tomorrow to do a little shopping. Let's see what I'll end up buying. Shopping is therapeutic to me - like how some girls eat chocolate to bail themselves out of a bad mood. But, leaving me to shop alone can be a very dangerous thing for my bank account.
I need a revamp for my wardrobe (I've been saying this the whole year)... and I need a new pair of casual heels and flats 'cos the current ones are pretty worn out.

So it wouldn't be without cause to shop wouldn't it? Heehee..

---------------------

It is definitely a sign of growing fat when even your own mummy warns against eating too much. Mummy told me that this is my optimum size and weight, and I should watch what I eat. Said my face is as round as ki's liaoz.

Looks like I've got to stop all that pasta and cheese.

Technically, I'm still slightly underweight.
Socially, I'm on the path to being chubby.
Personally, I'd like the boobs to grow and everything else can shrink all they want.

Must. Be. More. Independent.

I really have to stop being so dependent on him. Probably one of the reasons why I am so clingy to him. When he has to work on weekends like this, I feel like I'm not having a weekend at all.

I really have to stop this. About time I start doing my own stuff too. If he can do without me, I've somehow got to find my way to be less dependent on him.

He's the best I've ever had, and I'm fortunate to still have him. Another reason why I'm clingy. Fear of losing him. It's like he'll run away if I don't try hard enough to tell/show him: I'm still here for him.

Funny how when all a girl needs is a nice sincere hug or kiss, otherwise this part of her brain starts churning all sortsa theories.

I think a girl's heart is really confusing. I really don't like to bring up PMS, but it well could be this at work. I notice I have one of these odd posts every month or so? Yeah.. must be PMS. hahaha!
It's no reason to burst out and all 'cos of PMS, but I still think there is usually a trigger for it.
Like I said: all I need after a long week of work is a nice big hug.

Ah well.. it's just one of those days.. Before I'd even know it, everything would be like the calm after a storm... all over again. We're an odd species - just like guys.

Funny "quote"

Got this from Hazel's blog. She posted this definition her girl friend gave about why a dick = bird and vagina = pussy:

"The pussy spends its lifetime hunting for birds. Sometimes it catches alot and sometimes none at all -- plays with it teases it and ultimately gobbles the whole bird till it loses consciousness"

Exam Results

At least there's something to cheer about: I passed all my exams. (34 is the passing mark, but not easy ok?!)
Still, it's a load off my mind. Now, to concentrate on the next 4 subjects. BLECH. Posted by Picasa

No Comex for me

After work, went down to Comex at Suntec. I had the intention of scouting for a digital camera for the office. Can you believe that the office camera actually uses a DISKETTE to save photos? Amazing.

I was hoping to check out the price for the one I have at home - Casio EXlim 5 Mega Pixels. And of course see what else there are.

My journey began from a relatively usual MRT ride to City Hall. Walked through city link and tried to pick up some clothes to no avail, and landed up at the end of the underground shopping centre where 7-11 is. A huge crowd was gathering. I didn't know what seemed to be the problem. Since I had to get out from that exit to Suntec, I just joined the crowd.

And thus became part of a large lump of homosapiens trying to inch their way out to ground level.

It was surprisingly friendly. I didn't get any pushes or shoves, but everyone guarded their place in the "queue" by closing up any gaps to disallow anyone else to cut in.

We finally saw sunlight. That's where the crowd seemed to grow even larger. I have no idea why. We'd inch a little and stop for a while. Then suddenly inch some more, and wait another while. Hmm.. odd. It was as if this human traffic jam had a traffic light up front to guide people when to move and stop.

This whole episode happened at the area outside Citibank (from the exit of City Link to the overhead bridge of Suntec City. Luckily got beautiful swimming koi in the pond to watch. Check out the "queue" to climb up the escalator ('cos it was not working).

How orderly... Posted by Picasa

I didn't keep track of how long I was stuck there but it really felt like a long time. I half-expected to see a traffic policeman to be guiding us. When I finally got my foot up on the steps, movement was much faster.

But the new fear set in - would the overhead bridge be able to tahan all of our weight???

Mind you there was construction works for the circle line going on just right beside the bridge. They were banging and who knows, maybe drilling into the ground. I just didn't feel safe up there. Maybe that's why people moved faster too. Some more the bridge is a make-shift king, not built with concrete but metal.

THe crowd moving in the opposite direction (from Suntec to City Link) was not so lucky. They seemed to be inching like I was when waiting to go up the overhead bridge. Poor fellas. There was still a long queue to go up the bridge when I finally got to the other side.

I tried calling Bladey and Dearie but "No Network Coverage". What the hell.. I tried many times and finally got through. After that ordeal to come over, I just wanted to have dinner. Gave up on the digicam thingy. Blech. Too many people. I had no idea that Comex was THAT good. Somehow it was already 7pm. Took me an entire hour to reach there. I really must have been stuck in the queue for one VERRRRY long time.

Headed up to look for Dearie on 6h floor. I walked into a food fair by mistake, and decided that there was where dinner was. Near and not overcrowded. I moved on next door where he was sitting there at the redemption booth - doing nothing. How cool is that? You get paid to just about do nothing, oh, and watch girls in skimpy outfits strut around, selling stuff from their booths.

His colleague went for dinner so we had to wait an hour before his turn. I sat around and saw him help a few people with their lucky dip redemptions and lucky draw soupon submissions.

Soon after, Bladey and his darling made their way over too. No, his darling is not his girlfriend. It's just some freaky name calling thing they have with each other. Best part is the girl's bf doesn't seem to mind one bit. It's almost as if "darling" were a name. hahahahaha...

Well, she was waiting for her bf to knock off from the fair before they had dinner, so when Dearie's colleague got back, we went off first. Ah Chang joined us there too, where we found out that the ktv outing we had been trying to plan was not to be, 'cos Dearie had to work on the day we picked. Like I say in my shoutbox: I give up. I'll probably just go on my own.

We got back to the the redemption booth where Dearie had to pack up, and I got to see how some of the exhibitors had to chop-chop hurry-hurry pack up once all the visitors were gone. THey had 45min to pack up and leave before the lights get shut off completely. Interesting.

We were out of there by 9:30 and looked for Bladey, his darling and his darling's dear. Set off to accompany them for dinner.
[On the way met secondary school friends Gracia and Weilin, Weihong, & Wendy.]

By the time we reached the food court, Dearie, bladey, darling and her dear were busy discusing about bikes. Oh, and the whole night through Dearie was constantly trying to psycho both CHang and Bladey to get World of Warcraft (hereinafter known as WOW).

I figure his salary is all going to WOW, which requires you to pay monthly just to play it.

If he wasn't talking about bikes, it was WOW, otherwise he was looking at his beloved mobile, sms-ing away.... Funny how he doesn't even sms ME that much. He got the whole day to sms me but when I receive his replies, they're either slow, or if they're quick, they're very short.

In fact, when we were walking to his bike from the taxi stand all the way there he was chatting on his mobile.
So although technically I was with him the whole night, I felt as if I wasn't even there to him. Ah well. The perils of letting ur bf stare at too many better looking girls (selling IT stuff, no less), and having a game he wants so badly it's all he can ever think about (or talk about).

Needless to say I was pissed (actually I still am), and showed it. Bah. He says he's busy. Of course he is. Here's the newsflash: so am I.

Aiyaz. I picked the wrong day to go find him at Comex. Shouldn't even have gone down. Not like he didn't tell me that, but heck, I made the effort. I tried.
I was looking for some attention after a long week. Something/someone to lighten up my ridiculous and irritating mood swing. I looked for it on the wrong day.

Guess I'll just have to wait till next week to get a hug from him. Boohoo for me.
I hate my mood-swings. They make me see everything in a negative light.

Ki - hair a tad too short this time

Here's a peek at Kiki's swimming pool!!! heehee! Recognise it? It's ben transformed from "Ki's house" into this. The shelter was transformed into a boat (photos in previous post) and now has developed an undetectable hole, so it's deflated. Haha! Posted by Picasa

Mummy put on ki's clothes quickly so she could go get his porridge. I stood in during that time, and ended up running all over the house with him (non stop ok?) and he didn't allow me to walk. must jog horz. He'll act so cute and pull my hand, saying "Ah yee.. running.. play running..." How to resist..... Posted by Picasa

Ramblings on Project Superstar

I have not watched a single episode of Project Superstar, from it's audition days till the semi finals.
I wouldn't have watched it today if my sister hadn't turned it on. I was pretty tied up with the ki running all over the place until my mummy brought him back to his mummy's place.

I am no expert in performing but these are my ramblings of what I feel of Project Superstar after watching this one finale (and some more I didn't watch every segment).

Anyway, the finals was very ala Singapore Idol's finale. Just that it's a Chinese version. The opening performances by the last few that were picked were as expected: filled with loads of energy and excitement.

Too bad they lip synched. A big no-no to me for a live performance.

The guys were obviously better dancers. The girls looked plain raw, like they were not trained properly.

One uncanny similarity was how each girl was pretty much of the same size and shape, that even the guys were almost all of the same height. Hmm... And all of them had the same "sound" in their voice. Blech. No variety sia.

The whole thing sounded like a big karaoke contest. Can sing lahz, but just not singer quality lorz. Didn't feel any stage/tv presence at all. No star factor. X factor. Zilch. Mabe it's just me 'cos there were people dressed up as mummies and angels huh? haha! Cute sia!

I'm still glad that Weilian won overall though. I just couldn't bring myself to like the girl. Voice wise, both not my type, but Weilian (although pitch wise not too good), had better quality. Marketability of course Weilian win lahz. Sincerity in performance also obviously Weilian.

I am very sure there are better singers out there.

Probably they just didn't fit the "physical criteria".
